Timeline[[edit] | [edit source]]
Pre-11th century[[edit] | [edit source]]
- COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 1
- (Explanation: Explicitly dated to "many thousands of years ago" relative to the present of 2065.)
- COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 2 and Part 3
- (Explanation: A stated setting of two years after the first part of the story.)
- The first panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 1
- (Explanation: Set two months after the end of COMIC: Genesis of Evil. It takes the Daleks two months to build their city which they logically began work on soon after the Emperor's casing was completed at the end of that story.)
- (Note: PROSE: Fireball Surrenders! dates this scene with the rest of COMIC: Power Play to 2065 by stating that the Krattorians landed "only hours" after the City was finished. However, this is inconsistent with the events of the comic strip as well as other Dalek stories.)
20th century[[edit] | [edit source]]
1960s[[edit] | [edit source]]
1960[[edit] | [edit source]]
- (Explanation: The Red Star space bombs are constructed. They would be launched at some point in the 1960s only for the firing crews to lose control, eventually resulting in an accidental attack on Saharis almost thirty years later.)
1980s[[edit] | [edit source]]
1987[[edit] | [edit source]]
- (Explanation: Explicitly dated to 1987, providing context for Piil and Truen's later thirst for vengeance.)
21st century[[edit] | [edit source]]
2060s[[edit] | [edit source]]
2065[[edit] | [edit source]]
January[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 20 January 2065: The first six panels of COMIC: The Monster Jellyfish Part 1
- (Explanation: Explicitly dated to 2065. The second aircraft carrier in a month vanishes and Shore states that a third is "shortly due to sail". Considering the gap between the first two disappearances, it is likely that there is at least a couple of days between this scene and the rest of the story.)
- 23 January 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Monster Jellyfish; PROSE: Stingray Lost!; "Carrier S.O.S." from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 1; PROSE: Stingray Attacked!; "Stingray: Grave Concern" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 2; PROSE: Battle Stations!; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 3; "Tension Mounts at Marineville" from PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!; "Titan's Strike Force" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 1; PROSE: Titan Declares War!; PROSE: Destruction!; and PROSE: Marineville Waits!
- (Explanation: In COMIC: The Monster Jellyfish Part 3 two hours have passed since Stingray was last heard from in Part 2, the events of which followed on directly from Part 1. At this time Shore orders that the Hydromic missiles be prepared for launch, with the accompanying PROSE: Battle Stations! stating they are "thirty minutes" from blast-off. Titan proceeds with his bombardment of Marineville soon after this with Shore stating destruction of the WASP aircraft Titan controls would commence in "two hours" unless Stingray could relieve the situation, something which they are able to do. Stingray returns to Marineville at nightfall, suggesting these events likely took place over the course of a single day.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Attacked! instead dated these events to 30 January, PROSE: Battle Stations! to 6 February, the later parts of COMIC: Genesis of Evil to both 30 January and 6 February, PROSE: Fireball Surrenders! to 12 and 13 February, COMIC: Power Play to 13 February, PROSE: Titan Declares War! to 20 February, PROSE: Destruction! to 27 February and PROSE: Marineville Waits! to 6 March. However, such large passages of time are not possible within the context of the comic story.)
February[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 12 February 2065: COMIC: The Batmen Part 1 and all but the final six panels of Part 2; "Steve Zodiac Dead?" from PROSE: Stingray Lost!; and "Zodiac Dead Report" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 1
- (Explanation: PROSE: Fireball Surrenders! dates Fireball's investigation of the space freighter to "yesterday" in relation to the scenes set on the asteroid.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Lost! and COMIC: Genesis of Evil instead dated these events to 23 January.)
- 13 February 2065:
- The rest of COMIC: The Batmen; "New Asteroid Discovered!" from PROSE: Stingray Attacked!; "New Asteroid Discovery" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Genesis of Evil Part 2; "Hostage!" from PROSE: Battle Stations!; PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!; and "Retaliation Feared" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 1
- (Explanation: The scenes investigating the space freighter and the asteroid are set a day apart as per PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!, meaning this passage of time must have happened during Fireball's pursuit of the freighter to the edge of sector 25 in Part 2 of COMIC: The Batmen.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Attacked and COMIC: Genesis of Evil instead dated these events to 30 January while PROSE: Battle Stations! dated them to 6 February. However, these time gaps are not consistent with the amount of time the Fireball crew spend on the asteroid in the comic story.)
- The rest of COMIC: Power Play; "Daleks Invaded" from PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!; "Daleks Plan Counter-Attack!" from PROSE: Titan Declares War!; and "Daleks Capture Spaceship" from PROSE: Superjet Shot Down
- (Explanation: Date given in PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!. In Part 1 the slaves are ordered to transport all the sand Kest's ship can carry by sunset on pain of death but in later parts there is not much sand seen in the ship, suggesting that progress was disrupted by the magnetic interference very quickly. The rest of the story flows with little opportunity for breaks meaning that save for the first panel the entire comic story occurs over the course of a single day.)
- (Note: PROSE: Titan Declares War! dated these events to 20 February while PROSE: Superjet Shot Down dated them to 13 March.)
- 19 February 2065: The first page of COMIC: Mr. Steelman Part 1
- (Explanation: The main bulk of the action occurs on 20 February as per PROSE: Titan Declares War!. If it is assumed that Penelope and Parker's dealings with Steelman's men, their burglary of the Luthvian Embassy and the journey back to Creighton-Ward Manor takes up the time between midnight and dawn, then Parker's own attempted burglary and his first encounter with Penelope must occur in the late hours of the previous day.)
- 20 February 2065: The rest of COMIC: Mr. Steelman; "Penelope Agent Feared Kidnapped!" from PROSE: Titan Declares War!; "Lady Penelope Pursues Enemy!" from PROSE: Marineville Waits!; and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 6
- (Explanation: Dawn is just breaking during the raid on Creighton-Ward Manor. The rest of the story is fast-moving and it is daylight throughout meaning it must all take place over the course of a single day.)
- (Note: PROSE: Marineville Waits! dated these events to 6 March and COMIC: Power Play to 20 March but such large time gaps are not realistic.)
- 27 February 2065: "Fireball XL5" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 3
- (Explanation: Accompanies the move to the Laser-accelerated Spectroview which occurred in COMIC: The Vengeance of Saharis! but there is nothing stopping it from taking place on its stated cover date.)
March[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 20 March 2065: "Daleks Find Secret of Space Travel" from PROSE: Jungle Terror!
- (Explanation: Accompanies COMIC: Power Play but the report specifies that the Daleks' discovery of space travel was "revealed today by the Space News Agency". Considering the noted implications of this development to the safety of Earth as well as the "concern" in official circles it caused it makes sense that this news was kept secret for a time and not revealed until a later date.)
- 26 March 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Vengeance of Saharis! Part 1, Parts 2 to 4 and all but the final five panels of Part 5; PROSE: Destruction!; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 4; and "Space Doctor Collapses" from PROSE: Superjet Shot Down
- (Explanation: The comic story explicitly dates itself to 2065. Jodrell Bank detects that the Omega-Minus device has entered the solar system at 00:37AM on 27 March as per PROSE: Earth in Peril!, meaning that most of the action up to that point must occur on the previous day. Piil and Truen are already in the solar system when the Fireball crew escape the Saharis factory with twenty minutes to go before the planet explodes meaning that the arrival of the new day came in the one hour and forty minutes they were trapped there.)
- (Note: PROSE: Destruction! instead dated these events to 27 February, COMIC: Power Play to 6 March and PROSE: Superjet Shot Down to 13 March but such time gaps are not possible.)
- 27 March 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Vengeance of Saharis!; PROSE: Earth in Peril!; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 7; "Space Peril Mystery" from PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens; "Explosion!" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 1; "Space City Mystified" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 2; "Space Liner Missing!" from PROSE: Scoop!; and PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid!
- (Explanation: As per PROSE: Earth in Peril!, the Omega-Minus device has already entered the solar system by 00:37AM and proceeds towards Earth "at tremendous speed". It is daytime in Space City during Part 7 and the comic story is too fast-moving for another day to pass after that.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens instead dated these events to 3 April, COMIC: Duel of the Daleks to 3 to 10 April, PROSE: Scoop! to 17 April and PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid! to 24 April but this is not possible within the context of the comic story.)
April[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 3 April 2065:
- The first three parts of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks and the first two panels of Part 4, and "Dalek City Struck By Lightning!" from PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens
- (Explanation: As per PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens.)
- "Lady Penelope Joins TV 21" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 1
- (Explanation: As per its cover date.)
- 4 April 2065: The rest of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks and "Dalek Duel" from PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid!
- (Explanation: Zeg and the Emperor's duel is dated to the day after their initial confrontation by Part 4 of the comic story.)
- (Note: PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid! instead dated these events to 24 April.)
- 9 April 2065: The first page and the first panel of the second page of COMIC: Behind Enemy Lines Part 1
- (Explanation: Penelope attends a banquet in Bereznik on the evening prior to the rocket engine test.)
- 10 April 2065: The rest of COMIC: Behind Enemy Lines Part 1 and everything up to the first panel on the second page of Part 4; PROSE: New Rocket Engine Tested!; "Lady Penelope Arrested!" from PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid!; and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 3
- (Explanation: Date agreed by COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 1 and PROSE: New Rocket Engine Tested!. It is daytime until Penelope and Parker hide out until nightfall in order to liberate Professor Laryak from the Kirov prison.)
- (Note: COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 3 instead dated these events to 17 April while PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid! dates them to 24 April.)
- 11 April 2065: The rest of COMIC: Behind Enemy Lines and "Bereznik Prison Break" from PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight!
- (Explanation: Penelope leads the raid on Kirov and then returns to England, with the time transitioning from night to day over the remainder of the story.)
- (Note: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight! instead dates these events to 15 May but this is not a realistic indication of the length of Penelope's visit to Bereznik.)
- 24 April 2065:
- "Space Battle" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 4
- (Explanation: COMIC: Space Border Battle and COMIC: Assassination! corroborate that the Astran border incidents have been going on for a few months, allowing a setting a week before the former story to be possible as per their stated cover dates.)
- "Hunt for Lady Penelope" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 4
- (Explanation: Although it was published while COMIC: Behind Enemy Lines was ongoing, it is not unreasonable to suggest Bereznik only offered a reward for Penelope's capture after they became convinced their own Secret Police couldn't do the job, a couple of weeks after she escaped back to England. This allows its setting to align with its cover date.)
May[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 1 May 2065:
- COMIC: Space Border Battle and most of the first page of COMIC: Ceasefire — But War Tension Mounts...
- (Explanation: PROSE: Battle in Space dates the skirmish between the Tenth Space Fleet and the Astran space fleet to 04:15AM on Wednesday 1 May 2065.)
- PROSE: Battle in Space and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 5
- (Explanation: The order for mobilisation is given in the former story and Steve has not yet arrived in Unity City in the latter, setting them both before the second page of COMIC: Ceasefire — But War Tension Mounts....)
- The rest of COMIC: Ceasefire — But War Tension Mounts... and the first four panels of COMIC: President Offers Peace...
- (Explanation: Steve and Zero meet with the World President and the Astran ambassador in the morning as per PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped!.)
- (Note: PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped! dated these events to 8 May but that cannot be reconciled with the narrative of The Astran War.)
- "Space Battle — Cease Fire" from PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped! and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 6
- (Explanation: Both stories take place in the afternoon of the day that Steve was summoned to Unity House.)
- (Note: Both stories date their events to 8 May but by necessity have to take place on the same day as the previous parts of The Astran War.
- The final three panels of the first page and first two panels of the second page of COMIC: President Offers Peace...
- (Explanation: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight! states the take-off of XL5 occurred in the night.)
- (Note: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight! dates these events to 14 May but this is impossible.)
- 2 May 2065: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight!; the rest of COMIC: President Offers Peace...; and all but the final two panels of COMIC: Colonel Zodiac Disappears
- (Explanation: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight! states the Fireball take-off was "last night", setting this on the next day. The article also features an image of the craft well on its way to the Astran Empire, suggesting the journey to and from Astra was relatively quick.)
- (Note: PROSE: Fireball Mystery Flight! dates itself to 15 May but this setting is not possible when taken in conjunction with other stories.)
- 3 May 2065: The final two panels of COMIC: Colonel Zodiac Disappears
- (Explanation: The Kaplan's plan to visit Earth is front page news, suggesting it is the next day.)
- 13 May 2065: the first half of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons Part 1 and PROSE: Superjet Shot Down
- (Explanation: Date calculated by working backwards from COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer..., which followed on from COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair which followed on from COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons.)
- (Note: PROSE: Superjet Shot Down instead dated these events to 13 March.)
- 15 May 2065: the second half of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons Part 1
- (Explanation: Explicitly set two days after the Fireflash is shot down.)
- 16 May 2065: COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons Part 2; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Power Play Part 5; and PROSE: Jungle Terror!
- (Explanation: WASP are given the mission in the jungle after Shore returns from Washington after his conference. Stingray sets off in daylight suggesting it is probably the next day. It is sunset by the time they rendezvous with the World Army, with Phones suggesting the jungle might have slowed them down.)
- (Note: COMIC: Power Play dates these events to 13 March while PROSE: Jungle Terror! dates them to 20 March.)
- 17 May 2065: COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons Part 3; "Strange Machine Sighted" from PROSE: Earth in Peril!; and PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens
- (Explanation: The first panel shows the Junglecat in daylight but it is once again sunset by the time they reach their destination at the lake suggesting it took them most of the day to get through the jungle. Night has fallen by the time the Lobot is sighted again and Stingray is launched into the lake.
- (Note: PROSE: Earth in Peril! dated these events to 27 March and PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens to 3 April.)
- 18 May 2065:
- all but the final three panels of the rest of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons and PROSE: Scoop!
- (Explanation: The sun starts to rise in the final parts, signifying the start of a new day, and it is fully daylight as Stingray returns to Marineville.)
- the first half of COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair Part 1
- (Explanation: X20 is making his way to the beach, setting this before the end of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons.)
- the third-to-last panel of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons and the tenth to thirteenth panels of COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair Part 1
- (Explanation: Stingray returns to Marineville and Troy attempts to visit Atlanta but she is not home.)
- the final two panels of COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons; the final six panels of COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair Part 1, Part 2 and the first half of Part 3; and PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped!
- (Explanation: X20 kidnaps Atlanta at which point it is sunset. Stingray heads towards Titanica to rescue her.)
- (Note: PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped! dated these events to 4 May.)
- 19 May 2065: all but the final two panels of the rest of COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair; PROSE: Stingray Searches; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Duel of the Daleks Part 7; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 2; PROSE: Tempest Awarded V.M.; and PROSE: Stingray Breaks Out!
- (Explanation: The rest of the action apparently takes place throughout the night as the sun has started to rise by the later parts of the comic story, marking a new day.)
- (Note: COMIC: Duel of the Daleks dated these events to 15 May, PROSE: Tempest Awarded V.M. to 22 May, COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge to 29 May, PROSE: Stingray Searches to 5 June and PROSE: Stingray Breaks Out! to 12 June.)
- 22 May 2065: The Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 1
- (Explanation: Cover dated this date. This time skip is acceptable if it assumed Earth and Astra took some weeks to sort out the formalities of the Kaplan's visit.)
- 26 May 2065:
- COMIC: Assassination! and all but the final panel of the first page of COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer...
- (Explanation: Dated by PROSE: Kaplan Assassinated! to the afternoon of 26 May.)
- (Explanation: The story covers Lady Penelope's boarding of a flight to Unity City but does not mention her activities after that suggesting the articles were produced in late afternoon to early evening.)
- The last two panels of COMIC: The Atlanta Kidnap Affair
- (Explanation: After a week recovering from his injuries in hospital, Troy has dinner at the Shore home. He asks for an update on the Kaplan's assassination and Shore tells him Steve Zodiac is on the case and making progress, suggesting this scene is probably set on the evening of the assassination.)
- The final panel of the first page and all but the last two panels of the second page of COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer...
- (Explanation: Occurs in the evening of Penelope and Parker's arrival in Unity City.)
- 27 May 2065:
- The final two panels of COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer...; COMIC: Zodiac Makes An Arrest; and the first four panels of COMIC: Army In House To House Search
- (Explanation: PROSE: Stingray Searches states that Steve and Zero's brief gun battle with Lugosti's killers happened in the morning.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Searches dates these events to 5 June but this cannot be reconciled with the 36-hour time limit imposed by the Kaplan Minus in COMIC: Assassination!)
- PROSE: Stingray Searches; the rest of COMIC: Army In House To House Search; COMIC: Assassins Escape!; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 3; and PROSE: Zodiac Sends For Stingray!
- (Explanation: Set in the afternoon on the day following the Kaplan's assassination.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Searches and COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 3 date themselves to 5 June while PROSE: Zodiac Sends For Stingray! dates itself to 16 June but all these contradict the 36-hour time limit.)
- (Explanation: Set later on the same day after WASP have been contacted.)
- (Note: Dated to 16 June by PROSE: Zodiac Sends For Stingray!, contradicting the 36-hour limit.)
- (Explanation: It is day by the time that Troy's prisoners have been delivered to Space City. Based on the fairly quick travel time to Astra, it can be assumed the rest of the story takes place on the same day.)
- (Note: PROSE: XL5 Collision Course! dates itself to 3 July while PROSE: Civil War is dated to 14 July but such time jumps are not realistic in the context of the comic story.)
- 29 May 2065: COMIC: The Giant Ant Invasion Part 1; "Space S.O.S." from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor Part 2; and PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S.
- (Explanation: It is nightfall by the time Fireball XL5 leaves Astra in COMIC: The Astran War and after that it takes "a few hours" for the craft to reach AE7 as per PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S.. Assuming Fireball takes longer than that to reach Earth with the expedition in tow, it makes sense that most of the day is spent in transit.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor dates these events to 17 July and PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S. to 24 July but this is not compatible with the cliffhanger ending of COMIC: The Astran War.)
- 30 May 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Giant Ant Invasion; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor Part 3; "London Ant Battle" from PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed!; "Forest Stripped" from PROSE: Bullion Train; and PROSE: New York Blaze
- (Explanation: It is daytime throughout with no breaks in the action of more than a hour in which a new day could have dawned.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor dates events in the Ant War to 24 July, PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed! to 31 July, PROSE: Bullion Train to 7 August and PROSE: New York Blaze to 28 August but such time gaps are not possible given the fast-moving nature of the comic story.)
June[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 26 June 2065: The Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 6
- (Explanation: Accompanies COMIC: The Ghosts of Station Seventeen but PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S. states that the hauntings have occurred "over the past few weeks" which allows for a setting prior to the main comic story.)
July[[edit] | [edit source]]
- (Explanation: PROSE: Ghost Castle Mutiny, dated to 10 July, states the mutiny occurred "last Saturday" which places the day before on 5 July.)
- 6 July 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Ghosts of Station Seventeen Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3; PROSE: Ghost Castle Mutiny; and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor Part 1
- (Explanation: As above. PROSE: Ghost Castle Mutiny dates the mutiny to "last Saturday". The mutineers leave for Marineville in the morning. Shore, Troy and Phones leave for Tracking Station 17 "that afternoon" after Shore places the mutineers under arrest. They spend the night investigating.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor is dated to 10 July but this is irreconcilable with the fact it is set between the mutiny of the scientists and the true nature of Tracking Station 17 being revealed.)
- 7 July 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Ghosts of Station Seventeen; "Senator Attacks Stingray Mission" from PROSE: Civil War; "Fire Emergency" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor Part 2; "Explosions at Station 17" from PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S.; "Ghost Galleon Sighted!" from PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed!; "Tempest Captured" from PROSE: Bullion Train; and PROSE: Ghost Ship Hunted!
- (Explanation: Dawn comes up during COMIC: The Ghosts of Station Seventeen Part 4, signalling the beginning of a new day. The investigation of Tracking Station 17 continues throughout the morning and later that day until the affair has concluded. They return to Marineville and Shore returns Cluny and Armstrong to duty after Troy has been given a once-over in the hospital.)
- (Note: PROSE: Civil War and COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor dates these events to 17 July, PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S. to 24 July, PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed! to 31 July, PROSE: Bullion Train to 7 August and PROSE: Ghost Ship Hunted! to 14 August.)
- 17 July 2065: The first page of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 1
- (Explanation: Set two months after the destruction of Paris in COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons, dated above to 17 May.)
August[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 21 August 2065: The first three parts of COMIC: Aquatraz and PROSE: World Government Official Missing
- (Explanation: News is flashed to WASP units of the sinking of B1 on this day as per PROSE: World Government Official Missing. It is clearly day at the beginning of Part 1 whereas the sky has yellowed by Part 2, suggesting Stingray's search for Ketov starts towards the end of the day.)
- 22 August 2065:
- The first six panels of the second page of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 1
- (Explanation: Set "several weeks" after the first page of the story, dated above to 17 July.)
- The rest of COMIC: Aquatraz; all but the final panel of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 1; "Search for B1 continues" from PROSE: New York Blaze; PROSE: Stingray Nears Aquatraz; "Stingray Latest" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Plague of Death Part 3; and PROSE: Escape!
- (Explanation: It appears to be nearing sunset by the end of the story. As it appeared to be around the same time as early as Part 2, it is logical that the search for Aquatraz and Stingray's rescue attempt took a whole day to execute. PROSE: New York Blaze also suggests the search lasted more than one day. It is still sunset by the time Ketov returns to Marineville and leaves for Washington at the start of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion. The end of COMIC: Aquatraz stated that Titan was already planning his next move and the battle at the Uranium Plant while the sky is orange, suggesting all of this occurs on the same day.)
- (Note: PROSE: New York Blaze instead dates these events to 28 August, PROSE: Stingray Nears Aquatraz and COMIC: Plague of Death to 18 September, and PROSE: Escape! to 2 October. However, it is not realistic that the search lasts quite that long.)
- 23 August 2065:
- The seventh to ninth panels of the second page of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 1
- (Explanation: Specifically stated as "the next day" following Penelope and Parker's arrival in Paris.)
- The first three panels of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 2
- (Explanation: It is night by the end of the battle of the Uranium Plant, with the Aquaphibians taking time to secure the prisoners and contact Titan, possibly meaning it has transitioned into the early hours of the next day.)
- 24 August 2065: The tenth panel of the second page of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 1
- (Explanation: It is said that "twenty four hours of reconstruction pass".)
- 25 August 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3, and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge Part 5
- (Explanation: It is said that "another day" of reconstruction passes. It is also stated the booby trap set by Mr Steelman is set to explode at precisely midnight meaning that the cliffhanger to Part 3 marks the exact end of the day.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge dates the explosions to 19 June.)
- 26 August 2065: The fourth and fifth parts of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman and all but the final panel of Part 6; the first part of "News in Brief" from PROSE: XL5 Collision Course!; and "Lady Penelope in prison break" from PROSE: Ghost Castle Mutiny
- (Explanation: Penelope and Parker's capture by the French police occurs in the morning. They later escape and check into a small hotel in Strasbourg for the night.)
- (Note: PROSE: XL5 Collision Course! dates Penelope and Parker's arrest to 3 July and PROSE: Ghost Castle Mutiny dates their escape to 10 July.)
- 27 August 2065: The final panel of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 6 and the first page and first nine panels of the second page of Part 7
- (Explanation: Mr Steelman's test robbery of the monorail headquarters is said to occur "the following night".)
- 28 August 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 7, Part 8 and the first page and first nine panels of the second page of Part 9
- (Explanation: The news of the robbery features in the newspapers on the "next morning". Penelope and Parker commit their own burglary of the monorail offices that night.)
- 30 August 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 9
- (Explanation: It is stated that Mr Steelman works for two days at the site of the monorail embankment.)
- 31 August 2065: The tenth and eleventh parts of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman and the first page and first four panels of the second page of Part 12; PROSE: Bullion Train; and "Lady Penelope Aboard Bullion Express" from PROSE: Ghost Ship Hunted!
- (Explanation: Penelope says while in the monorail headquarters that the bullion train leaves Strasbourg in three days' time, setting this part of the story that length of time later.)
- (Note: PROSE: Bullion Train dates these events to 7 August while PROSE: Ghost Ship Hunted! dated them to 14 August.)
September[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 1 September 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 12 and the first page and first six panels of the second page of Part 13, and "Monotrain Mystery" from PROSE: World Government Official Missing
- (Explanation: It is stated that police and monorail aircraft search for the train "that night and all the next day". It is during the night of this next day that Mr Steelman begins to recover the bullion from the submerged train, with Penelope and Parker hitching a ride to Strasbourg from a passing motorist.)
- (Note: PROSE: World Government Official Missing dates the search for the train to 21 August.)
- 2 September 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 13
- (Explanation: Penelope and Parker discuss their plans to stop Mr Steelman at "noon the next day". Penelope estimated on the previous day that it would take "at least two nights" to move the bullion, with Part 14 confirming he took a total of three nights because he dared not work during the day. Thus, the end of the story in which Mr Steelman says he will complete the job "tomorrow night" must take place on the evening of the day on which Penelope and Parker discussed their plans.)
- 3 September 2065: The first page of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman Part 14
- (Explanation: As above. Set on the third night after Mr Steelman begins to recover the bullion.)
- 4 September 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman and PROSE: Black Forest Siege!
- (Explanation: Date explicitly provided in PROSE: Black Forest Siege!. Dawn appears to breaking by the time Penelope and Parker do battle with Mr Steelman's robots, signalling the start of a new day. After the battle, Penelope waits for the authorities to arrive before leaving for England with Parker.)
- 11 September 2065: COMIC: The Isle of Arran Riddle Parts 1 and 2 and the first page and first three panels of the second page of Part 3, and "Lady Penelope — Inheritance" from PROSE: Stingray Nears Aquatraz!
- (Explanation: The comic story explictly begins a week after Penelope's return from Germany, dated above to 4 September. She and Parker spend only about three and a half hours before leaving for Arran, with another two and half hours in FAB 1 before boarding the ferry. They arrive in Brodick in the evening.)
- (Note: PROSE: Stingray Nears Aquatraz suggests the story's events begin closer to 18 September but a two-week gap is inconsistent when working from the dating for COMIC: The Return of Mr. Steelman as provided by PROSE: Black Forest Siege!.)
- 12 September 2065: All but the final panel of the rest of COMIC: The Isle of Arran Riddle; "Parker Attacked" from PROSE: Sam Shore Suspended; "FAB 1 Sabotaged!" from PROSE: Lone Mission For Tempest; and PROSE: FAB1 Back in Action!
- (Explanation: Penelope and Parker begin their proper search of Arran "the next morning". The hunt for the ruby is evidently completed in a single day, with it only being 10 in the morning during Part 5.)
- (Note: PROSE: Sam Shore Suspended instead dated these events to 9 October, PROSE: Lone Mission For Tempest to 30 October and PROSE: FAB1 Back in Action! to 6 November.)
- 13 September 2065: The final panel of COMIC: The Isle of Arran Riddle
- (Explanation: Penelope and Parker return to the mainland "the next morning".)
October[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 6 October 2065: The final panel of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 1 and the fourth and fifth panels of Part 2 and PROSE: Sam Shore Suspended
- (Explanation: As per PROSE: Sam Shore Suspended, the news comes from Washington on this day that Shore has been suspended while the B1 attack happened "a few weeks ago". This time gap is possible if Ketov, despite his influence, struggled to get Shore sacked.)
- 15 October 2065: COMIC: Icemen of Space Part 1
- (Explanation: Based on dating for COMIC: Emergency Landing!. The travel speed of Fireball XL5 is inconsistent so this gives the crew an arbitrary week to reach Uraniture.)
- (Explanation: As per cover date. Fireball XL5 is currently away from Earth on the Uraniture mission. The new engine is fitted at the start of COMIC: Time Slip!.)
- "Tempest Takes Over" from PROSE: Revolutionary Engine For XL5
- (Explanation: Troy is in charge of Marineville following Shore's suspension. The stated cover date is very feasible if the drama surrounding Shore's suspension and court martial lasted a couple of weeks.)
- 22 October 2065: All but the final two panels of the rest of COMIC: Icemen of Space; PROSE: Ice Planet Mystery; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Plague of Death Part 4; and "Robot Smashed" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Plague of Death Part 5
- (Explanation: Events in the main part of the story occur in quick succession, meaning everything likely takes place within 24 hours of each other. It is seen to be always night although the planet's day-night cycle is not revealed.)
- (Note: PROSE: Ice Planet Mystery instead dates these events to 11 September while consecutive parts of COMIC: Plague of Death date them to 25 September and 2 October.)
- 23 October 2065: The final two panels of COMIC: Icemen of Space; the first page of COMIC: Emergency Landing! Part 1; PROSE: Fireball Explosion!; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Plague of Death Part 7; and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons Part 1
- (Explanation: As per PROSE: Fireball Explosion! and COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons. Immediately after leaving Uraniture, Fireball XL5 loses its main boosters in an explosion. The craft uses auxillary motors to limp to an asteroid it passed "a while back" for repairs.)
- (Note: COMIC: Plague of Death instead dates the explosion to 16 October.)
- 24 October 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 2 and everything up to the first two panels of Part 4
- (Explanation: Troy states at the beginning of Part 2 that a Uranium tanker is due to leave "soon". The Aquaphibians have learnt "all procedures" of the Uranium Plant by this time so "soon" meaning about two and a half weeks seems reasonable. Stingray is damaged and will take "over a week" to repair.)
- 27 October 2065: The third to seventh panels of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 4
- (Explanation: Working backwards from the 30 October cover date of PROSE: Lone Mission for Tempest while factoring in the week that Stingray needs to be repaired. It appears to be sunset when the WASP prisoner contacts Marineville and Troy would likely contact Washington with this news immediately.)
- 29 October 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 4
- (Explanation: If the court martial took one day to discuss and verify Troy's evidence before reaching a conclusion, a gap of two days between this and the previous scenes makes sense. It is sunset when Troy leaves by hypersonic aircraft for the Uranium Plant.)
- 30 October 2065: COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion Part 5 and all but the final three panels of Part 6; PROSE: Lone Mission for Tempest; the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons Part 3; and "Tempest Rescued" from PROSE: Britain Protests!
- (Explanation: PROSE: Lone Mission For Tempest states Troy is facing the Aquaphibians "at this minute" after proceeding onwards to the Uranium Plant. As he left at sunset and worked through the night, this suggests these words were written in the morning.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons instead dated these events to 6 November while PROSE: Britain Protests dated them to 13 November.)
- 31 October 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Uranium Plant Invasion; "Terror Fish Fleet Sighted" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons Part 4; and PROSE: The Lone Attacker!
- (Explanation: Upon Troy's return from the Uranium Plant, he states Stingray has to be ready at dawn. However, "another three days at least" are needed to fix the damage. The repair is "miraculously" completed in the time allowed, exactly one week after it was first damaged.)
- (Note: COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons instead dated these events to 13 November while PROSE: The Lone Attacker! dated them to 20 November.)
November[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 6 November 2065: All but the final panel of the rest of COMIC: Emergency Landing!; "Steve Zodiac Mystery!" from PROSE: FAB1 Back in Action!; and "Asteroid Explosion" from PROSE: Britain Protests!
- (Explanation: Steve disappears on the asteroid on this date as per PROSE: FAB1 Back in Action!. The asteroid is a vague "while" away from Fireball when Steve sets a course there with the auxillary motors meaning a time jump to this cover date is feasible. The action in the story takes place in a short period of time, certainly much less than a full day.)
- (Note: PROSE: Britain Protests! instead dates Steve's adventure on the asteroid to 13 November.)
- 8 November 2065: The final panel of COMIC: Emergency Landing!
- (Explanation: Fireball explicitly leaves the asteroid two days after the repairs are started.)
- 13 November 2065: The first three parts of COMIC: The Vanishing Ray and "Anonymous Tip-off" from the Stop Press panel of COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons Part 4
- (Explanation: Date as per COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons. Night falls as Lady Penelope and Parker are arrested and the Hood tries to rob Creighton-Ward Manor.)
- 14 November 2065: The rest of COMIC: The Vanishing Ray and the Stop Press panel of COMIC: Eve of the War Part 3
- (Explanation: Dawn breaks as Parker leaves Creighton-Ward Manor with the Hood and Jeff meets with Penelope at ten in the morning.)
- (Note: COMIC: Eve of the War dates the Hood's escape from his wrecked car to 25 December but this is not possible as the story clearly takes place over a period of two days.)
2066[[edit] | [edit source]]
January[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 8 January 2066: "Lady Penelope Comic Ready" from PROSE: Time Barrier Busted
- (Explanation: As per cover date. The date of sale for Penelope's comic is to be given "next week".)
February[[edit] | [edit source]]
- 25 February 2066: "Lady Penelope Success" from PROSE: Thank You Thunderbirds
- (Explanation: Penelope visited the TV21 offices "yesterday", with the issue cover dated to 26 February. She was there only briefly as she was flying to America to arrange a competition with David McCallum later that day.)

(#109-#115)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Marineville Clampdown (Wednesday 15 February 2067, dated 18 February)
- Marineville refuses to either confirm or deny that Stingray has been taken out of action. Unofficial statements from a reliable source indicate the craft is in dock for a more-than-routine overhaul. Commander Shore barred all correspondents from his office after a stormy interview "this morning".

- Thunderbirds on Secret Mission (Wednesday 15 March 2067, dated 18 March)

Cormorant (#116-#120)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The news 'Stingray in sea alert!' "reached our Fleet Street offices at the time of going to press", being a flash from Marineville at "noon". The last news before this was that all tests on the new Cormorant B25 had proved successful and that everything was going as scheduled.
- Hot from the W.A.R.E. control ship, "at this moment" supervising test flight procedure for the Cormorant, comes the rumour that the whole test programme has been sabotaged. Further reports are coming in of an accident to stand-in pilot Troy while training. A test flight will be undertaken "later this afternoon". A "late flash" adds a picture to the article showing Stingray in action with a Bereznik submarine.
Lure of Titan (#121-#128)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Rumours that Troy has taken Stingray into the heart of Titanica are "growing each day". Marineville revealed "this morning" that Stingray is on an urgent assignment in the Pacific but refused to give details. Unofficial reports state Troy and Marina are on an exploration mission "at this present moment". Latest reports state Marineville Control has ordered Stingray to return to base if they fail to return to the craft "within an hour".
- In a report from Marineville dated to "Wednesday morning" it is stated that Titan has captured Stingray. Commander Shore has requested World Government permission for a missile attack on Titanica if there is no word of escape from Troy and his crew "within 24 hours".
- Rumours filtering through from Titanica claim that Marina faces execution following the almost total destruction of the Terror Fish fleet by the Stingray crew. Commander Shore refused to comment on the news "today" and has heard nothing for "some time now". Troy is believed to be attempting to save Marina.
The Merglop Mystery (#129-#135)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- A TV21 staffer stood by Commander Shore at Marineville "today" as Troy radioed to say he was breaking his routine patrol to answer a may day from the robot tanker Detroit Tanker. Meanwhile, World Weather Patrol put out a statement saying that "today" their computers maintained fine weather and full control at all time. A "Stop Press" addition contains a quote from Troy saying the sea is like a boiling cauldron.
- World Weather Control "still" disclaim all responsibility for the storm which sunk the Detroit Tanker. Stingray is continuing investigations.
- Marineville reported "today" that Stingray had been in action with an unknown and terrifying undersea race. It is now known they are responsible for the storm by using some type of weather controlling device.
- TB4 Trapped Under Liner (Wednesday 9 August 2067, dated 12 August)
- Stingray is undergoing a complete overhaul following damage sustained in its last confrontation with the mysterious undersea craft causing widespread water turbulence. - Heat-Beam Horror (Wednesday 13 September 2067, dated 16 September)
- The quest to capture a giant eel has been Stingray's task "for the past weeks". Marineville sources report "today" that quest is thought to be nearly at an end. After "hours" in pursuit, engagement and capture Marineville claims the mission as a success but Stingray is still yet to bring the eel back.
Hi-Jack (#141-#147)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Is Scarlet Dead? (Wednesday 1 November 2067, dated 4 November)
- Time is "rapidly running out" for Stingray to halt Seaspear, the hijacked explosive-carrying submarine, before it runs into a research island. It is on a set course with its crew unconscious from paralysing gas.
- Air-Arm Alert from Stingray! (Wednesday 8 November 2067, dated 11 November)
- Commander Shore gave emergency orders for fighter-planes to move in on the hijackers of the Seaspear "only minutes before TV21 went to press today". The criminals were escaping in a WASP sea-plane after their capture by Troy. Either the operation will be handled by Troy or Shore will give the order to shoot them down.
The Freeze Ray (#148-#153)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Mysterons Strike First (Wednesday 29 November 2067, dated 2 December)
- Marineville is at Battle Stations awaiting an attack from Titan. Another reason for concern is the new freezeray weapon Titan now controls.
- Marineville Ablaze (Wednesday 6 December 2067, dated 9 December)
- Smoke hangs over Marineville "today" as the oil tanks to the west of the control building roar with flame. Fire engines from WASP centre and the nearby World Army Air Force base rush to the scene while overhead WASP jets streak westwards towards the Pacific and Titan's closing invasion fleet. In the background, the Marineville tower is sliding down into its underground shelter.
- Black Escapes (Wednesday 20 December 2067, dated 23 December)
- The WASPs hydronic missiles wiped out a fleet of Terror Fish "early this morning". However the latest report direct from TV21's aquascanner network suggests that Titan is mustering his forces for yet another undersea attack on Marineville. Stingray, fitted with the new Freezeray, is being comandeered by Titan himself.
High Treason! (#155-#189)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- WASP "today" shattered the legend of Troy Tempest by putting out a communique stating that Troy was "today" arrested by Inter Service Security Forces and charged with treason for an unprovoked attack on an unarmed World Air Force bomber.

- Troy was sent for trial before the supreme military court "today". He pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence.

- Rescue Search for International Rescue (dated 24 January 2068)
- The news comes that Troy has made a getaway in Stingray. This is fairly recent as it is noted he "cannot get far" with the security services of the world after him.
- Homeward Bound (dated 7 February 2068)
- In a report from Marineville dated to "Monday" it is stated that WASP officials are still unable to give any indication as to the whereabouts of Troy who "recently" escaped from jail.
- Brains Dies in New York (dated 21 February 2068)
- Reports are coming in that Troy has been sighted near Washington harbour. WASP security police are investigating.
- Is the Earth About to Explode? (dated 28 February 2068)
- Troy is somewhere in Washington. TV21 has long-believed in his innocence and thinks he may be heading for the World Government Headquarters after having found the means to prove it.
- Troy has been connected to a fire which broke out "today" at the World Government HQ in Washington. Two guards say they saw him in the building when they went to investigate reports of smoke after which he made his escape by diving through a window into a bed of flowers.
- 'Brains' Alive! (dated 27 March 2068)
- Troy had stowed away on a transporter which was taking Stingray back to Marineville. He once again escaped in the craft after protesting his innocence and saving the lives of the two pilots.
- Toshio Yagumo Disappears (dated 15 May 2068)
- Toshio Yagumo has disappeared without trace while sailing in his yacht. It is believed that Troy may be connected with the kidnapping. Top-level discussion is taking place to avert worldwide crisis and no stone is being left unturned in the search for the vital World Government member.
- Tempest Saves Yagumo (undated, cover dated 8 June 2068)
- It is understood that Yagumo was rescued from a primitive Japanese tribe by Troy, though the exact circumstances of the rescue are not yet clear. Troy was taken into custody by WASP patrol ships but later escaped. He is now in the company of Phones. Elsewhere, observers in the Red Sea area have reported seeing large numbers of flying fish, skimming over the surface of the water.
- Captain Purple Dies (undated, cover dated 13 July 2068)
- The world aqua-sports championships are now underway off the coast of Florida. It is reported that the World President's ship is under close guard following rumours of possible attempts on his life.
- Tragan Dead (undated, cover dated 20 July 2068)
- The World President has been attacked while attending the aqua-sports championships. News is also coming in of an attack on Commander Shore, with it being reported that he was shot while holidaying on his private island off Los Angeles. It is not known who is responsible or if Shore has even survived but all news agencies are standing by for information. It is being suggested that the two attacks are somehow connected, possibly the work of an organisation formed to disrupt the World Government at the highest level.
- Boy Climber Attacks 'Devil's Crag' (undated, cover dated 27 July 2068)
- The mystery deepens as no trace of Shore's body is found on the island. Troy is linked.
- Shore Slams Tempest (undated, cover dated 3 August 2068)
- In an angry speech to the Security Council "last night" Commander Shore demanded that a greater effort be made to capture Troy, stating he wanted him caught and punished "within the next twenty-four hours". It is understood that renewed efforts are being made as a result of the speech. Troy has been at large "for many weeks".
- Zero X Returns (undated, cover dated 10 August 2068)
- The redevelopment of Marineville has been completed "after months" of hard work and planning by Aquastructure Ltd. Shore will preside over the opening ceremony. He is "now" completely recovered from his brush with Troy. A "late news" addition states that a security screen has been thrown around Marineville after a sabotage scare. A thorough search for a bomb produced no results and it is thought to be a hoax.
- Grandmother Outwits Raiders (undated, cover dated 31 August 2068)
- Troy has been cleared of the charges of treason brought against him. His flight from injustice was "long" and it was not until he exposed a plot to destroy Marineville and unmasked the two Bereznik agents who framed him that Shore finally realised his innocence. Troy and Phones have "now" been fully reinstated as members of WASP and Troy has accepted an official apology. Later, Troy and Phones visited the TV21 offices, getting on the "first jet over to London" after being invited there by a newsman.
Fireball XL5[[edit] | [edit source]]
Placed in the timeline[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Everything from #1-#43
Time Slip! (#44-#51)[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Where is Fireball? (Wednesday 24 November 2065, dated 27 November)
