The Fourth Doctor brings Sarah and Harry to Skaro to reveal the true circumstances behind the creation of the Daleks.

- The Doctor explicitly states he is at the true genesis of the Daleks to disprove both the Yarvelling and Zolfian Dalek birth theory put forward in TV 21 and the Davros story put out by the BBC.
- The Doctor prods Davros' nose.
- The Doctor reveals Louis Marks as the true inventor of the Daleks, describing him as a toymaker gone bad.

- This story refers to the fact that the Dalek creation story put forward in Genesis of Evil [+]Loading...["Genesis of Evil (comic story)"] in 1965 was quickly disregarded as soon as Genesis of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Genesis of the Daleks (TV story)"] depicted a different story in 1975.
- Marks refers to Louis Marx whose company, Marx Toys, produced Dalek toys. Marx Daleks were used in The Evil of the Daleks [+]Loading...["The Evil of the Daleks (TV story)"] and Planet of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Planet of the Daleks (TV story)"]. Louis Marks was also the name of a Doctor Who writer who penned one Dalek story, Day of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Day of the Daleks (TV story)"].
- This story accompanied a nostalgia feature on Genesis of the Daleks that appeared in DWM 179. A preview of its double VHS release, which also included The Sontaran Experiment [+]Loading...["The Sontaran Experiment (TV story)"], was also contained within.
- This story marked the sole appearance of Harry Sullivan in the Doctor Who? series. He was also originally intended to have featured in a story [+]Loading...{"noital":"1","1":"Untitled 4 (It's Even Bigger on the Inside comic story)","2":"a story"} slated for print in DWM 121 but it was replaced due to the recent death of Harry's actor, Ian Marter.
- This story also marked the final appearance of Sarah Jane Smith in the series.
