The Ninth Doctor used the psychic paper to display himself as a member of the War Office to British Army members in 1959, then to allow himself and Nova to enter the Sphere of Freedom's central arc as systems spot-checkers. Though she successfully used the paper to bypass the door leading to the sphere chamber, she failed to pass it off as Torchwood Institute authorisation to Doctor Rajesh Singh, who saw the paper as blank due to his basic psychic training. However, when she attempted to convince King James I the same, he read the paper as identifying Graham O'Brien as the Witchfinder General and the Doctor as the Witchfinder's Assistant as he ridiculed the notion that a woman could by the Witchfinder General. It supposedly displayed a picture that proved how "anyone can see the resemblance". Attempting to head north from Camden Town to find the Meep's crashed ship, the Doctor attempted to convince Shaun Temple to take him in his taxi by pretending to be the Grand Master of the Knowledge.
