This page lists the Doctor Who universe timeline of Dalek activity as given by the Dalek Combat Training Manual. This timeline is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories.
In-universe, the Dalek Combat Training Manual was composed during the Last Great Time War by the Time Lords by not only scrutinising the Daleks' past history, but also by using the Matrix to project the future battles between the Doctor and the Daleks in the post-Time War universe.
Timeline
Dalek history
1. TV: The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar
- The Doctor, the greatest enemy of the Daleks, saves the life of their creator, Davros, when he is a young boy.
- The Daleks are created by Davros.
3. TV: Resolution
- The Daleks develop space travel and the first Reconnaissance Scout Daleks leave their home planet Skaro. One of them lands on 9th-century Earth and is almost destroyed before being resurrected in the 21st century.
4. TV: Revolution of the Daleks
- A cloned version of the same Reconnaissance Scout uses Earth technology to create its own Dalek army. A Dalek Death Squad is summoned to destroy these aberrant creations and exterminate the Scout.
5. TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth
- The Daleks invade Earth in the 22nd century, but are eventually defeated.
6. TV: The Daleks
- The Thals triumph over the Daleks in the Dalek City on Skaro.
7. TV: The Space Museum
- A Dalek casing is exhibited in the Space Museum on Xeros.
8. TV: Day of the Daleks
- The Daleks master time travel and change history so their invasion of Earth succeeds.
- Using a time machine based on Time Lord technology, a Dalek execution squad pursues the Doctor through time.
10. TV: Frontier in Space
- In league with a rogue Time Lord called the Master, the Daleks attempt to foment war between humanity and the Draconian empire.
11. TV: Planet of the Daleks
- The Daleks mass troops on the planet Spiridon.
12. TV: Doctor Who
- The Daleks put the Master on trial.
13. TV: Death to the Daleks
- Daleks travel to Exxilon to secure the only cure to a disease that is ravaging the outer worlds, intending to hold the galaxy to ransom.
14. TV: Mission to the Unknown
- Dalek allies convene on the planet Kembel and plan an assault on Earth's solar system.
15. TV: The Daleks' Master Plan
- The Daleks travel through time and space to recover the power source for their deadly weapon – the Time Destructor.

- A crashed Dalek ship is discovered in the mercury swamps on the planet Vulcan.
17. TV: The Evil of the Daleks
- The Emperor Dalek tries to spread the Dalek Factor – that will make humanity behave like Daleks – throughout history.
- The Movellan War is waged at various points in history.
19. TV: Destiny of the Daleks
- Daleks return to Skaro to rescue Davros.
20. TV: The Five Doctors
- A Dalek is abducted by the President of the Time Lords, using a Time Scoop, and forced to take part in the Game of Rassilon.
21. TV: Resurrection of the Daleks
- The Daleks infiltrate 20th-century Earth with duplicates of influential people, and plot to assassinate the High Council of Time Lords on Gallifrey.
22. TV: Revelation of the Daleks
- Davros creates a new strain of Daleks on the planet Necros.
23. TV: Remembrance of the Daleks
- The Daleks are manoeuvred into activating a remote stellar manipulator, which destroys Skaro's solar system.
- Rising hostilities between the Daleks and the Time Lords lead to the Time War, which results in the Time Lords being banished to a bubble universe.
25. TV: Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
- The Cult of Skaro – four Daleks who waited for the Time War to be over in a Void sphere between realities – emerge on 21st-century Earth.
- A lone Dalek that survived the Time War is discovered on 21st-century Earth.
27. TV: Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways
- The Dalek Emperor also escapes the Time War and creates a new Dalek army.
28. TV: Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks
- The Cult of Skaro travels back in time and conducts a series of experiments that result in a Dalek-human hybrid.
29. TV: The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
- One of the Cult of Skaro – Dalek Caan – travels back into the Time War (locked in another version of reality) and rescues Davros. Davros then builds a new generation of Daleks who intend to destroy all of creation with a Reality Bomb.
30. TV: The Waters of Mars
- Judging her an important part of the fabric of time, the Daleks spare the life of a young girl who would grow up to become the first human on Mars.
31. TV: Victory of the Daleks
- Three of Davros's Daleks use the Progenitor to spawns a new Dalek paradigm.
32. TV: The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
- The new Dalek paradigm forms an alliance with other races to trap the Doctor.
33. TV: The Wedding of River Song
- The Dalek data core is breached by the Doctor, who uses a damaged Dalek to provide him with information about an alien race called the Silence.
34. TV: Asylum of the Daleks
- Having rebuilt Skaro, the Daleks ensnare the Doctor and send him to the Dalek Asylum.
35. TV: The Time of the Daleks
- The Dalek fleet lays siege to Trenzalore to ensure the Time Lords do not return.
36. TV: Into the Dalek
- A damaged Dalek is found drifting in space. A radiation leak causes it to malfunction and it ends up declaring war on all other Daleks.
37. TV: The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar
- Davros returns to Skaro and tricks the Doctor into helping the Daleks.
38. TV: Twice Upon a Time
- The Doctor seeks information from the Daleks once more, seeking out the damaged Dalek at the Weapon Forges of Villengard.
