This page lists the linear order of classic series television stories in the Doctor Who universe timeline as given in History of Mankind according to Doctor Who, published as part of The Terrestrial Index. This timeline, which admits to the use of retroactive continuity and the disregarding of certain contradictory dates given in stories, is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories.

Immediately following The Faceless Ones.
This placement flatly contradicts Sarah Jane Smith's claim that she is from 1980 in Pyramids of Mars.

The Future[[edit source]]

In the early 22nd century, the human ship Hydrax is lost in E-Space. (TV: State of Decay)
In the early 22nd century, a human ship crashes on Metebelis III. (TV: Planet of the Spiders)
In 2160, the Daleks inflict plagues on Earth.
In 2164, the Daleks conquer the Earth, beginning the First Dalek War in which human colonies make failed attempts to intervene.
The Seventh Doctor and Melanie Bush visit Paradise Towers after its adult population had left to fight in the First Dalek War.
Earth is liberated from Dalek occupation thanks to the First Doctor.
The First Cyber Wars are fought in the early 23rd century.
A typo gives the year as 2479 but places the story correctly.
The Second Dalek War is fought.
"About the same time" as Colony in Space by the reckoning of The Terrestrial Index.
"Towards the tail end" of the 25th century by the reckoning of The Terrestrial Index.
The beginning of the century by the reckoning of The Terrestrial Index.
The Second Cyber Wars are fought.
"About the same time" as Attack of the Cybermen by the reckoning of The Terrestrial Index.
The Third Dalek War is fought.

Within a hundred years of The Invisible Enemy by the reckoning of The Terrestrial Index.
Between 5000 and 10,000, the Haemovores emerge on Earth. One of them, the Ancient One, is brought back to 1943 by Fenric. (TV: The Curse of Fenric)
It is believed that mankind reclaimed Earth around the year 10,000.
Alien tourists travel back in time to Earth. (TV: Delta and the Bannermen)
