- This story marks the first appearance of the Second Doctor in the Doctor Who? series as the sole incarnation featured. He previously appeared in DWM 95's instalment.
- This story also marked the first appearance of K9 in the series, apparently acting as companion to the Second Doctor, predating the incarnation he was initally introduced to, the Fourth Doctor in The Invisible Enemy.
