This page lists appearances of Ruby Sunday in the order in which she experienced them. This timeline is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories. From these observations we have attempted to build a concise timeline. It is assumed, much like its TV story counterparts that for each novel, comic story and audio series their published/numbered order is the order they occur in. This does not apply to short stories which are often ambiguous about their placement. There are also many gaps between stories.

- On Christmas Eve 2004, Ruby Sunday's mother abandons her on the doorstep of a church and the Fifteenth Doctor travels back in time to save Ruby from the goblins who seek to eat her.

- The Doctor and Ruby recognise Penny Pepper-Bean: Ruby from the events of 73 Yards and The Doctor from the events of Boom, placing this episode after those events for the two of them.
- Ruby recognises the Duke of Pemberton's mother after seeing a portrait of her. She resembles Penny Pepper-Bean from Dot and Bubble and the hiker from 73 Yards.

- The Doctor and Ruby, albeit briefly, visit various alien worlds, suggesting a setting after Boom. Ending directly into Everyone Must Go!

- Ruby encounters the Cybermen for the first time, and although she is familiar with the fact that the TARDIS translates, she doesn’t appear to know specifically how it works. The Doctor identifies the Scream Sommelier as a being from beyond the universe where the rules are different, and that he has encountered beings like that once or twice before, setting this after The Devil's Chord. The Doctor recalls encountering the Chuldurs, setting this after Rogue.

- The Doctor and Ruby visit 19th century Copenhagen and meet Hans Christian Andersen. Ruby is taken to what seems to be an alternate Faroe Islands by the Snedronningen.

- Ruby wonders if "smashing up that sloop" put the TARDIS settings out of wack, setting this directly after The Hans of Fear. The Chuldur leader is seen among Ruby's memories, placing these stories after Rogue.

- The Doctor and Ruby arrive at UNIT HQ, where they ask about the mysterious woman they have been seeing throughout their travels, and are told about Susan Triad.

- Ruby leaves the Doctor after discovering the identity of her mother. Despite the fact that it was snowing in 73 Yards, the Doctor still states it was 19 years ago that Ruby's mother abandoned her, indicating that this story occurs earlier for Earth than the events of 73 Yards do, though later for both the Doctor and Ruby.

- Empire of Death confirms that this story occurs during the episode as Melanie Bush is also in the Remembered TARDIS, apparently asleep while the Doctor tells Ruby about Sutekh.
