If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.
This page lists appearances of the Coal Hill defenders entrusted with the protection of Coal Hill Academy by the Twelfth Doctor. This timeline is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories. From these observations we have attempted to build a concise timeline. It is assumed that for each novel, comic, audio or television series, their published, broadcast or numbered order is the order they occur in.
The layout of this timeline is in part based on the observations on Clive Banks databanks,. though it should not be used solely as a source or considered a "true" timeline for stories.
Timeline[[edit source]]
Coming together[[edit source]]
- Set during 12 and 14 October 2016. The Rhodian prince and his Quill servant have been hiding from the Shadow Kin at Coal Hill Academy for a month as student Charlie Smith and teacher Andrea Quill, respectively. However, the Shadow Kin start to emerge from the Coal Hill Space-Time Rift to find the Cabinet of Souls, with Quill tricking Kevin Williams into killing the vanguard with her displacement gun, though at the cost of his own life. More Shadow Kin begin to emerge, attacking Tanya Adeola while she tutors Ram Singh online and April MacLean while she prepares for the Autumn Prom. While Tanya fights them off herself, Quill comes to April's rescue, but Charlie interfering when she fires the displacement gun causes April's heart to be synch with that of Shadow King Corakinus, who retreats. Charlie and Quill then tell April about their true nature, including about the arn placed in Quill's head to keep her subservient to Charlie, and April tells Ram and Tanya when she figures out they saw the Shadow Kin too. At the prom, with Charlie bringing Matteusz Andrzejewski as his date, the Shadow Kin return, with Corakinus killing Ram's girlfriend, Rachel Chapman, as well as severing his leg, and destroying the displacement gun. However, the Twelfth Doctor arrives to drive the Shadow Kin off, though he is unable to fully close the Rift, and he leaves Charlie, April, Ram, Tanya and Matteusz to fight off further incursions from the Rift after he attaches a Lothan prosthetic leg to Ram, naming Quill as their protector to make amends for Kevin.
- Set a week after For Tonight We Might Die, during 24 and 27 October 2016, though the Coal Hill defenders have not seen Ram since the prom, as he is still recovering from the loss of Rachel and his leg, while the other defenders are adjusting to the existence of the space-time rift. Headmaster Frank Armitage is among those killed by a Leaf Dragon being controlled by football coach Tom Dawson to secure the safety of its mate trapped in his skin, but Ram convinces the Dragon to just take Dawson to reunite with its mate. Despite initially being hesitant, Ram decides to officially join the Coal Hill defenders. Quill learns that the Governors are investigating her, and April's dad tries to call her.

- Charlie informs Matteusz of the battle with the Leaf Dragon, and of Armitage's death. (AUDIO: Secret Diary of a Rhodian Prince)
- A few weeks have passed since For Tonight We Might Die. Coal Hill Academy is currently in between head teachers, setting this between The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo and Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart. Matteusz does not yet live with Charlie, setting this before Nightvisiting as well.
Defending Coal Hill[[edit source]]
- Set the night of 3 November 2016. Matteusz is kicked out by his parents for being gay, and he moves in with Charlie, with both declaring their love, just before an invasion by the Lankin. April opens up to Ram about surviving her father's suicide attempt, and the two share their first kiss. Ram alludes to the recent events of For Tonight We Might Die and The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo, and April is learning to play "Night Visiting" on her violin.

- Matteusz has moved in with Charlie and Quill, and Charlie writes in his diary about their declarations of love. (AUDIO: Secret Diary of a Rhodian Prince)
- While Quill referring to the head teacher using male pronouns would set this before Armitage's death, Matteusz is currently living with Charlie, setting this after Nightvisiting, suggesting that Quill was talking about a temporary headmaster filling in prior to Ames' arrival in Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart.

A few weeks have passed since The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo, and Matteusz is living with Charlie and Quill, but Ram and April are not in a solid relationship, setting this between Nightvisiting and Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart. Ram's friend Neil is hospitalised with severe burns after a truthordare.com challenge goes wrong.

Quill mentions the Daleks, but she makes no indication that she has ever encountered one.
- Explicitly set on a Monday.

- A month after Seraphin's kidnapping, Ram's phone is stolen, and his messages are posted online the following day. Charlie and Matteusz end up uncomfortable being intimate via their mobile phones and make an agreement to not do so anymore. (PROSE: What She Does Next Will Astound You)
- Set "a few months" after Charlie and Quill's arrival on Earth in September 2016, with Ram implying that only one month has passed since For Tonight We Might Die, which would set this around 12 November 2016.
