This page lists appearances of the Rutan Host in the order in which they experienced them. This timeline is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories.
Timeline
- 1199 - AUDIO: Castle of Fear
- 1605 - GAME: The Gunpowder Plot
- 1872 - AUDIO: The First Sontarans
- 1902 - TV: Horror of Fang Rock
- PROSE: The Three Little Sontarans
- The Sontarans and the Rutans have been at war for only a few centuries, however they meet on a planet previously colonised by humans.
- 2371 - PROSE: Lords of the Storm
- 25XX - HOMEVID: Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans / PROSE:Shakedown
- 25XX - PROSE: The Taking of Chelsea 426
- 25XX - COMIC: Pureblood
- Following the Second Dalek War, the Rutans succeed in destroying the Sontaran homeworld, Sontara. However, the Sontarans manage to survive with the assistance of the Seventh Doctor.
Unplaced
- The Fifth Doctor, accompanied by Adric, Nyssa and Tegan Jovanka, stumbles upon a Rutan weapon test field.
- During the war, a Sontaran scout ship is shot down and crashes to Earth. After a human helps him defeat a Rutan copy, the Sontaran Commander leaves the planet in his ship to rejoin the war.
