This page lists appearances of Henry Gordon Jago and George Litefoot in the order in which they experienced them. This timeline is based upon observations of the Doctor Who universe and the events that occur during each of these stories. From these observations we have attempted to build a concise timeline. It is assumed that for each novel, comic, audio or television series, their published, broadcast or numbered order is the order they occur in.
Fan sources like the Doctor Who Reference Guide should not be used solely as a source or considered a "true" timeline for stories.
Timeline[[edit source]]
Early lives[[edit source]]

- Jago and Litefoot meet each other, and the Doctor for the first time. Set in 1892, according to The Case of the Gluttonous Guru and Destination: Nerva, while the novelisation dates it to the 1890s. Rather anomalously, COMIC: The Time Machination sets it in 1889, but only by way of a caption.
- Shortly after the events of The Talons of Weng Chiang, Jago and Litefoot plan to exterminate the remainder of the giant rats leftover from Magnus Greel's plot.
Infernal Investigators[[edit source]]

Claudius Dark[[edit source]]
- Jago, Litefoot, and Leela attend the premiere of A Woman of No Importance, which in the real world was on 19 April 1893.
Travels in Time[[edit source]]
- Jago and Litefoot's time is given as being 1893.
- Jago and Litefoot return to 1893 London. Ending leads directly into The Skeleton Quay.
Return To Victorian London[[edit source]]
- Jago and Litefoot arrive back in their own time, only to be met by The Colonel who sends them on an investigation on behalf ofQueen Victoria to Shingle Cove. After their business in Shingle Cove concludes, they return to The Colonel who tells them that he may have need for their services again in the near future.
- A fortnight has passed since Jago and Litefoot's visit to Shingle Cove in The Skeleton Quay. Litefoot believes that Jago was infected by a malign influence during their time in Shingle Cove, leading to his strange nightmares in the interim. He enlists Sigmund Freud to help get to the bottom of Jago's nightmares, however it is revealed that the problem lies with Litefoot instead.
- Jago has met Freud, setting this after Return of the Repressed. He and Litefoot are not fugitives, and Quick is still a Sergeant, setting this before Military Intelligence.
- Jago and Litefoot's encounters with Doctor Tulp occurred "some time ago", with a lot having occurred in the interim. Litefoot recalls an incident that occurred at the New Regency "last month", suggesting they have been back in their own time for at least that long. It is implied that Jago and Litefoot have taken on various missions for the Colonel since The Skeleton Quay, suggesting a while has passed since then. They discover that the Colonel has nefarious plans of his own and is using Jago and Litefoot for those ends. After a confrontation with the Colonel goes wrong, Litefoot is arrested on suspicion of the murder of Jago, leading directly into The Trial of George Litefoot.
- Litefoot is put on trial, and with an unfavourable outcome, he and Jago become fugitives.
Fugitives[[edit source]]
- Two days have passed since Jago and Litefoot went on the run in The Trial of George Litefoot. They take refuge in 107 Baker Street. Jago and Litefoot meet Arthur Conan Doyle, who claims to have put writing Sherlock Holmes behind him, setting this after the December 1893. Litefoot mentions that it is 1894 while in conversation with some time travellers.
- It is exactly one year since the death of Sherlock Holmes in December 1893. Ending leads directly into The Wax Princess.
- Quick is promoted to the rank of Inspector. The Scorchies offer their talents to Jago.
Back to Normal[[edit source]]
- Set immediately after The Wax Princess, beginning with a reprise of that story's conclusion. Then there is a time jump to a few weeks later, with Litefoot and Ellie having not seen much of Jago due to his preoccupation with the Scorchies.
- Quick is now an Inspector, placing this after The Wax Princess. Jago and Litefoot meet the Doctor, setting this between Voyage to the New World and Masterpiece.
- Jago, Litefoot and Patsy come under the influence of the Darkling Façade after coming into contact with it's amniotic fluid in Gride's warehouse.
- Set "a while" after Jago & Litefoot & Patsy. Jago and Litefoot haven’t visited the Red Tavern in as long, due to the influence of the Darkling Façade. Jago and Litefoot decide to arrange a cruise ship holiday to recover from recent events.
Aboard the Fata Morgana[[edit source]]
- Jago and Litefoot board the Fata Morgana for their holiday cruise, setting this shortly after Higson & Quick. The Battle of Waterloo (1815) was 80 years ago, suggesting an 1895 setting.
- Jago and Litefoot return to London. They receive a letter from Carruthers Summerton, and plan to contact him immediately.
Carruthers Summerton[[edit source]]
- Jago and Litefoot meet Carruthers Summerton for the first time. They recall the events of The Wax Princess. They have had a dry spell with investigations since returning to dry land from the Fata Morgana in Return of the Nightmare.

- Quick is an Inspector. Jago and Litefoot meet Strax for the first time.
- Jago and Litefoot discover that someone is trying to find out everything about them. Litefoot encounters Luke Betterman for the first time since The Devil's Dicemen. The year 2000 is just over 100 years in the future.
- Jago and Litefoot discuss the recent events of The Mourning After at the Red Tavern. The Master arrives in London and hypnotises Inspector Quick.
The Master[[edit source]]
- Litefoot is reunited with Jean Bazemore for the first time in a long time. Jean suggests Litefoot join her in Egypt at some point.
- Ellie recalls first meeting Jago and Litefoot "a few years ago", after their encounter with the Doctor. The Master causes Ellie's vampiric tendencies to return and she steals a painting, leading directly into Picture This.
Old One[[edit source]]
The Gentlemen of the Dice[[edit source]]
- Almost a year has passed since Masterpiece, which was the last time Jago and Litefoot encountered the Doctor. Following the New Year, Jago and Litefoot go through a quiet period with a lack of adventures leaving them with a feeling of unrest.

Further investigations[[edit source]]

- Jago knows Strax, setting this after The Haunting. Set in December. Litefoot is spending Christmas in Luxor with Jean Bazemore, leading Jago to spend it with the Paternoster Gang, and also setting this after Jago & Son. Authorial intent sets this the Christmas after Jago & Litefoot Forever. (BFX: Heritage 4)
- Jago and Litefoot encounter the Carrionites in 1899. Jago is able to defeat them with his use of language and Litefoot writes a book relating the encounter which the Sixth Doctor owned a signed copy of. (AUDIO: The Carrionite Curse)
- Over ten years have passed since the events of The Talons of Weng-Chiang. According to the synopsis, it is the dawn of a new century.
- Jago and Litefoot have met Romana before, setting this after The Justice of Jalxar.
Currently Unplaced[[edit source]]
- Set in January 1894, but Litefoot hasn't met the Doctor since The Talons of Weng-Chiang (it contradicts the events from their travels with the Sixth Doctor and their time being 1893). Jago does not appear.
