Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

This page lists appearances of the "Relic" Doctor in the order in which he experienced them. It relies on much speculation to fit semi-contradictory sources together, and should absolutely not be seen as representative of this wiki's general policy.

Timeline[[edit source]]

Settling down as a diplomat[[edit source]]

Although the Doctor of The Infinity Doctors can also be interpreted as being a young Doctor who has not yet left Gallifrey (with his dead wife being Patience instead of Bernice), this timeline will focus on the novel's plot as being later in the Doctor's life, leading to his involvement in the War. As a version of the Eighth Doctor, the Infinity Doctor is indicated to have travelled with Sam Jones and Izzy Sinclair; The Book of the War also features the Eighth Doctor's companion Carmen Yeh from the charity story Schrodinger's Botanist in Perfect Timing.
As the Relic, this Doctor later intersects with the early life of the Eighth Doctor (while he's in his early travels with Sam Jones), possibly changing its own past and pushing its earlier self onto a different path which was followed by the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures. Another potential explanation put forth by PROSE: The Book of the War for how the lives of these two Eighth Doctors run parallel is that they are from different Gallifreys of the Nine Gallifreys. Fishy Business vaguely points to another explanation.
Bernice Summerfield has been in a relationship with the Eighth Doctor for ten years since he made the first move on her on Apollox 4. They do not have children. This alarms Danny the Fish, as this Bernice has not experienced any of the established events of her life which should have happened after PROSE: The Dying Days, leading Danny to contact the rest of the Advanced Research Department to inform them that the Doctor has been "compromised" by Last Contact.
The Doctor paints a portrait of Bernice in the atrium of his family home on Gallifrey, and she tells him she's pregnant. This changes his outlook on life, convincing him to put his past behind him. The Doctor sees a vision of Bernice as a past companion in The Infinity Doctors, and by the events of that novel the portrait has the inscription "Death is but a door".
A legend exists that Bernice Summerfield had "thirteen half-immortal children by the last survivor of a race of time travellers".
The Doctor is put on trial by the Time Lords and sentenced to teach law in the Time Lord Academy. He defeats Varnax. (TV: The Return of Varnax)
The Doctor is a teacher who works with his friend the Magistrate to resolve the Rutan-Sontaran War. He later visits the Needle and encounters Patience and Omega. He defends Gallifrey from Varnax.
In Chapter 1 of The Infinity Doctors and Chapter 27 of Father Time, the Doctors of both books meet in a shared dream, a bridge between parallels. Both Doctors are the same age and have the same physical form, but the Doctor of Father Time has long hair and the Doctor of The Infinity Doctors has short hair. The Father Time Eighth Doctor has been stranded on Earth for almost exactly a century, meaning that his counterpart is also at least a century old. The Father Time Eighth Doctor also knows that his counterpart's lover is dead.
An interventionist diplomat visits an old contact on Dronid to try to prevent the Cataclysm.

War in Heaven[[edit source]]

The Doctor visits Mictlan and promises to give the Celestis his corpse if they stay out of affairs on Dronid. He later visits a dying soldier on Simia KK98.
A mysterious assassin kills three lobotomized renegades, ending the Lethean Campaign.

The Relic[[edit source]]

At some point, the Doctor dies. (PROSE: Alien Bodies, et al.)
The Relic is found in Smithmanstown, sent back in time by Faction Paradox, put in the Toy Store, and obtained by Qixotl from the Black Man's shop in 2169 London. Qixotl puts it up for auction in the Unthinkable City. The Doctor appears to Kortez on the astral plane. The Eighth Doctor wins the Relic and destroys on Quiescia.
Bernice Summerfield searches for the Doctor's body on Quiescia.

The City of the Saved[[edit source]]

Grandfather Halfling founds House Halfling in the City of the Saved and is a close affiliate of Amanda Legend Lefcourt.
Melicia Clutterbuck furthers Grandfather Halfling's agenda.
V. M. McCrimmon receives a letter from a blonde woman addressed to herself and Grandfather Halfling.
Grandfather Halfling is resurrected in the second City of the Saved.
