Welcome to Disaster World was the first story planned in an unproduced series of comics planned to be printed in Daily Mail newspapers, similar to the Radio Times Eighth Doctor comics. The series was to feature the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler, and was worked on by Tim Quinn and Steve Parkhouse. The comic and the series were cancelled when the BBC decided that the DWM and DWA comics were already enough in terms of publishing. Quinn disagreed, noting that the series would have reached a completely different audience from the other magazine comics.

The first page of the story and documentation of its cancellation were detailed in Vworp Vworp! issue 1.
